America's best girl group of recent years - The Pussycat Dolls - have all split up and pursued different solo careers. Nicole and Kimberley have managed to make a dent on the UK charts with Scherzinger stealing Cheryl Cole's job on the X Factor US while Wyatt has gone all La Roux on us, teaming up with a DJ to form her own duo Her Majesty And The Wolves. Melody, also known as the small girl with the big voice, recently released some studio demos that sound alright but nothing worth shouting about. Ashley hasn't done anything much but Resident Redhead Jessica Sutta tried to gun for a solo career with the trashy I Wanna Be Bad.
Obviously, it's easy to say Nicole is the most successful, but she's as interesting as a piece of cardboard and has average material handed to her while she trods out mindless choreography, barely keeping anything interesting. We've got a new chick on the block though. Jessica might have released the trashy I Wanna Be Bad, but she got picked up by Hollywood Records (Lord knows why), and has transformed into a slick, leather-wielding dance floor diva.
She's got a new track Show Me and an equally sexy music video. I do wish she had a dance break but she's looking all glamorous so let's not complain. Baby steps..
Nicole Scherzinger - Poison + I Hate This Part acoustic
Reigning on the UK Singles Chart is Nicole Scherzinger with her recent chart monster Don't Hold Your Breath, and Scherzy did an acoustic session to promote Killer Love. I actually think she did amazing on these acosutic performances. Just sitting down, without all the fancy choreography and pyrotechnics, Scherzinger really proves she's an incredible singer. She nailed Poison and even pulled out the good ole' I Hate The Part from the Doll Domination era. I miss the Pussycat Dolls. A lot. You can check out Poison above and I Hate This Part below.
Many of the dolls said they were living in lead singer Nicole Scherzinger shadow in the successful girl group Pussycat Dolls. Many have said that they want to go solo, and Jessica is the first to leave the current line-up of the 5 Dolls consisting of Ashley Roberts, Melody Thornton, Kinberley Wyatt, Nicole Scherzinger and of course Jessica Sutta herself. She is said to be almost homeless now and considers herself "lucky" to have a friend take her in. Jessica has announced plans for an electropop dance album and of course, founder of PCD Robin Antin says there will be new faces to join the current line-up. I must say, this was one of my favourite tracks from Doll Domination. It was a slow ballad that was really wonderful, where Nicole's vocals, again, were immaculate. Now reworked, sampling "I Will Survive" from Gloria Gaynor as well, The Pussycat Dolls have remixed the song and has it retitled as "Hush Hush; Hush Hush". I really love the new disco feel of the song and I absolutely adore it.
I thought this was really cool. Slumdog Millionaire, hands up, those who haven't heard of it. See, even the soundtrack was popular. Jai Ho! was originally performed by A.R. Rahman, but Ron Fair approached The Pussycat Dolls to do an English version of it. I think it's really catchy and wow Nicole's vocals are impeccable on this record. The way she transitions into a high pitch is brilliant. I like that the Dolls did a cover of it, it definitely widened the amount of Jai Ho! fans and also brought The Pussycat Dolls into another league. Great, I really like it.

Artist Of The Month. (November 2011)
The Power Rangers of British pop, The Saturdays, are returning this year with a more mature sound and image, with the girlband taking a stab at the pop/dance wave with their fourth album On Your Radar's first single Notorious being a total flip in direction in their sound, and was noticeably more clubby compared to their previous singles and albums. They then took things a level further with the complete rave-tastic All Fired Up, which is without a doubt their best single release, not surprising since the track was produced by production powerhouse Xenomania, the machine behind pretty much all of Girls Aloud's discography. The pop five-piece are charging forward with the Christmassy ballad My Heart Takes Over before their album On Your Radar drops November 21st!
