Simply because the pop music scene is rather painfully slow at the minute. Here's what Britain's best pop star Cheryl Cole should do next.
1. Severe all ties with The X Factor. On the other side of the drama, we saw headlines of The X Factor US and FOX bosses ripping Cheryl to shreds firing her, and then replacing her with the rather, rather dull and emotionless Nicole Scherzinger. Of course, it's not the first time The X Factor has made use of her and thrown her under the bus. She did come under fire with X Factor UK reject Gamu and she was only on The X Factor UK because she'd be the reason millions tuned in to watch Simon Cowell's manipulative reality tv singing competition The X Factor. It's time to axe The X Factor out of your life, Chez.
2. Get together with Girls Aloud. And I don't mean a permanent reunion, no. Nicola Roberts' solo material, Cheryl's performing skills and Girls Aloud's image as British girl group icons is more than enough for me. Furthermore, there's only room for one British girl group giant, currently held by The Saturdays, and some rookie girl groups - Parade, Wonderland, Belle Amie etc. at any one point. Girls Aloud needs to get together for a one off reunion at the Olympics 2012 Ceremony London will be hosting, and to make it their biggest and best live performance ever. I'm hoping for a medley including The Promise, Sound of the Underground, Sexy! No No No.. and Something Kinda Ooooh. A couple of arena dates for a reunion tour could work as well if the Olympics gig doesn't happen.
3. Record better solo material. We all know Cheryl knows very well how to work a crowd, bringing in fierce choreography, confidence that would shake Nicola Roberts to the core, and a nice outfit that would have every straight man in the world sit up. But her albums are shit. No, no, her singles are fine, namely the pop classics Fight For This Love, Parachute, and 3 Words (the album) cut Stand Up. But we all know her albums as a whole underwhelm and overall are just really terrible. She's already started work on her third album and has been recording in LA, so let's hope she's landing some better material this time round, not some Britney rejects.
4. Perform her comeback single at the London Olympics. Yes I do want Cheryl/Girls Aloud to be involved at the Olympics somehow. It's only right. She's Britain's biggest popstar and Girls Aloud are.. Girls Aloud. This performance shall be on the same level as her Fight For This Love performance at the 2010 Brit Awards and slay everyone watching.
Then she'll have the world at her feet in minutes. Sounds like a good plan. Get to work Cheryl.
Big News: OFFICIAL - Cheryl Cole out of X Factor US
I haven't been posting much, actually I haven't posted anything, about Cheryl Cole's X Factor drama because there were many reports flying around, none official, not a word from Cheryl, Simon or The X Factor, but it turns out, after filming two audition cities, Cheryl Cole is off The X Factor. Recently, The X Factor UK panel was announced and it consisted of Tulisa from N-Dubz, Kelly Rowland, Take That's Gary Barlow, and the only remaining judge Louis Walsh aka the Randy Jackson of the UK.
With nowhere turn to, BBC have apparently approached Cheryl to do the UK version of The Voice. God no. Whether it may be true or not, please do not let this happen. The Voice is not big enough to have someone like Cheryl Cole, Britain's best pop star, on the panel.
So as it turns out, Steve Jones will be the sole host of The X Factor US, and Nicole Scherzinger will take her place on The X Factor US. I'm just saying, but Paula should be off that panel, but of course FOX execs are banking on Saula to sell the show rather than Chimon. But Cheryl and Simon have a lot more chemistry between each other.
Hopefully Cheryl breaks the States on her own, without The X Factor, and hopefully without will.i.am meddling in her career any further.
All I can say is this is completely humiliating for Cheryl, for someone who left the UK to devote all her time to judge a singing competition to help introduce American audiences to her and her music, and getting fired only two months after, returning to the UK with the British press claiming she's grown too big for her boots. I'm guessing Cheryl will take some quiet time alone, before launching herself back into recording a new album and the supposed Girls Aloud 2012 reunion. But if I'm being completely honest, I don't want Girls Aloud to return. Yes, unpopular opinion. Cheryl > Girls Aloud.
Big News: Listen to Nicola Roberts b-side Porcelain Heart!
With the release of debut solo single Beat of My Drum comes the premiere of a new track from the Ginger Princess better known as Nicola Roberts in the form of a b side and Porcelain Heart is the track I'm talking about. Many have commented it sounds like it could be a Girls Aloud track, and they're right. It sounds like it could serve as a b side for Untouchable, except only with Nicola taking the vocals over the pop ballad layered with a shiny pop sheen. Then there's that last note that she works her vocals into overdrive. Brilliant. If only for the fact it could be Girls Aloud track and a pretty smashing last note.
If you're familiar with the British pop music scene, you'll know that Girls Aloud have been girl group giants until their ever-extending hiatus when the girls all went to pursue different projects. Cheryl Cole has already had much success while Nadine Coyle flopped harder than Bey's Run The World (Girls). (By the way, Nadine will be releasing Runnin' in the US, totally forgettable, probably bringing her flopness to the States). Still, there's another dark horse that could very well threaten Cheryl's success. With Cheryl's X Factor drama still very much a PR disaster, Nicola's turning the spotlight to herself with the release of her solo single Beat of My Drum on the 5th of June.
If you're a Girls Aloud fan, you'll know that Nicola had the best voice in Girls Aloud, second to Nadine, but she's definitely a lot more quirky and her new single Beat of My Drum definitely highlights that with the Ginger Genius chanting dance to the beat of my drum! repeatedly over a chorus The Best Damn Thing era Avril Lavigne wouldn't snob at. It comes across as more playful and younger than bratty Avril's Girlfriend and sounds like it could be very well go on to be a summer hit.
The song will premiere tomorrow on Radio 1 with Scott Mills and the video will premiere on the day of the track's release. Check out a little snippet of the video for the song below.

Big News: Girls Aloud to reunite for 2012 World Tour!
Girls Aloud may be made up of 5 gorgeous ladies from the UK, but that doesn't mean they aren't 5 very smart, talented and gorgeous ladies. It appears that Cheryl, Sarah, Nicola, Nadine and Kimberley might be getting back after all! A source says:
The group aim to "capitalise" on Cheryl Cole's rumoured position on The X Factor USA by planning the global gigs.
"Early next year is pencilled in for the reunion tour," a source told the paper. "It's going to be absolutely massive. Cheryl could be a US superstar by then if her appearance on American X Factor goes according to plan this autumn, so they want to capitalise on that.
"It will also be the band's 10-year anniversary in 2012, so the timing is just perfect."
They added: "And with Sarah's wedding being the showbiz marriage of the year, the girls will be back to the height of their fame again."
Concrete, smart plan. Of course, everything's riding on Cheryl Cole's success in the US, but if the US don't accept her, I'm sure there'll be thousands and thousands of fans who aren't from the UK who'd really love for this to happen. I'm just hoping that this isn't just an exaggerated rumour, but since it has been reported by the reliable Digital Spy so I'm counting on this to be true.
And remember, Girls Aloud are still contractually obligated to release three more albums, and it looks like the girls are setting their sights on the entire world. This makes me very bloody excited.
Oh ho. The Saturdays may be the 'it' girl group for now, but they'd better step it up if they want to compete beside Girls Aloud.
In other GA-news, well, Cheryl Cole news, she has mentioned that she's all about the British pop scene right now, and is itching to get back into the studio and has cancelled all plans for the Dizzee Rascal-assisted track Everyone to be released as the third single. This is good news because while there are one or two solid album tracks left on Messy Little Raindrops, none are single-worthy. And I'm sure she wouldn't want to flop again.. After all, her last single The Flood peaked at a measly #18, along with other "final singles" from other British pop acts such as Alexandra Burke's The Silence and The Wanted's Lose My Mind that failed to match past successes.

Artist Of The Month. (November 2011)
The Power Rangers of British pop, The Saturdays, are returning this year with a more mature sound and image, with the girlband taking a stab at the pop/dance wave with their fourth album On Your Radar's first single Notorious being a total flip in direction in their sound, and was noticeably more clubby compared to their previous singles and albums. They then took things a level further with the complete rave-tastic All Fired Up, which is without a doubt their best single release, not surprising since the track was produced by production powerhouse Xenomania, the machine behind pretty much all of Girls Aloud's discography. The pop five-piece are charging forward with the Christmassy ballad My Heart Takes Over before their album On Your Radar drops November 21st!
