Rihanna's sixth studio album Talk That Talk leaked the past week, but the lead single We Found Love has managed to collect another week atop the Hot 100, while Bruno Mars rockets into the Top 10 at #9 with It Will Rain, trailed closely by Taylor Swift's new tracks If This Was a Movie at #10, Ours at #13 and Superman at #26 while Katy Perry's The One That Got Away rises up to a new peak of #15. Christina Perri's A Thousand Years is also on the move up, moving up to #46. Jessie J's Domino moves up to #58 while Glee's Uptown Girl debuts at #68. Rihanna is genuinely the queen of the Hot 100 right now, with her new single You Da One arriving at #73 while Adele's Set Fire To The Rain re-enters at #89.
Mac Miller is at #1 on the albums chart while Michael Buble's annual album chart fest is in full swing with his Christmas album collects the Greatest Gainer Title and flies up to #2. The unstoppable Adele is a non-mover at #5 while Mariah Carey's Merry Christmas II You re-enters at the other side of the chart at #194.
Predictably, Rihanna and her Calvin Harris collaboration We Found Love has sailed to the top of the Hot 100, marking it Rihanna's 11th #1 hit, and I will cry when she beats Mariah's record of 18 #1s, which will happen soon. Get on with some hits, Mariah! Rihanna's sail to the top also means Adele's Someone Like You has been pushed down to #2. Meanwhile, Kelly Clarkson sees a massive resurgence for Mr. Know It All, which we all thought was going to flop seeing its massive drop down the chart in its second week. However, the soulful pop/rock midtempo has bounced back up nine spots to #10. Being one of the massive pop superstars on the planet right now means everyone will be ringing you up, and Coldplay did that with RiRi, and their duet on Princess of China arrives at #20 on the chart this week. Also seeing a resurgence is Bruno Mars' It Will Rain, which has risen to a new peak of #21, while Katy Perry's sixth(!) single off Teenage Dream, The One That Got Away, has shot up to #34. Obvious album standout What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger) off Kelly Clarkson's new album Stronger, crashes the chart at #64 while Colbie Caillat's Brighter Than The Sun follows right behind at #65. Jessie J's new American single Domino is also on the rise, moving up to #81 while Christina Perri's A Thousand Years plummets to #91.
Over on the album chart, the unstoppable Coldplay fights off competition from pop heavyweight Kelly Clarkson and pop/jazz crooner Michael Buble to land at #1 with Mylo Xyloto while Stronger lands at #2 while Buble's Christmas album sits at #3. American Idol Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery's Clear as Day seems to have some serious holding power (not Adele terms of holding power, but you get what I mean), as the album stays strong at #7. The runner-up of the same season Lauren Alaina doesn't seem to have as much luck, with her debut album Wildflower falling to #24 despite being released a week after Scotty's album.
Far East Movement's Fly Like a G6 reigns on top of the Hot 100 while Rihanna's Only Girl (In The World) has rocketed up to #2 while her previous #1 last week What's My Name? featuring Drake falls to #7 despite getting the title of Airplay Gainer. P!nk's Raise Your Glass has barged into the Top 4, hitting #4 this week. Ke$ha's latest single We R Who We R falls to #6 this week. Glee's Teenage Dream shifts a colossal 200, 000+ units in the first week of its release, debuting at #8 on the Hot 100, while Start Me Up/Livin' On A Prayer, Stop! In The Name of Love/Free Your Mind, One Love (People Get Ready) debut at #31, #38 and #41 respectively. Katy Perry's also on the move up with Firework hitting a new peak of #9 this week. The Black Eyed Peas' dreary autotuned fest of a new single The Time (Dirty Bit) debuts at #12 this week. Jason Aldean's duet with Kelly Clarkson on Don't You Wanna Stay flies up to #56 up from #93 last week. Carrie Underwood's Mama's Song has cracked the Top 60 with the country songbird's latest single hitting a new peak of #59 this week. After being announced as her next single, Taylor Swift's Back to December has returned to the Hot 100, re-entering at #74. Christina Perri's debut single Jar of Hearts moves up a spot to #75 while Jason DeRulo's latest single What If turns out to be a slow-burner, debuting at #76 despite being released quite sometime ago. Ke$ha's promo single Cannibal debuts at #77 this week.
Susan Boyle's The Gift continues her #1 album streak this week, holding Taylor Swift off the pole position as Speak Now falls to #2. Michael Buble's Hollywood: The Deluxe (EP) moves 3 spots up to #40 up from #43. Christina Perri's Ocean Way Sessions (EP) debuts at #144 this week.
Ke$ha has taken over the Hot 100 with latest single We R Who We R debuting at #1 on the chart, the first female artist to do so since Britney Spears managed the same feat last year with 3 and the first artist male or female to do so since Eminem debuted at #1 with Not Afraid earlier this year. Rihanna's Only Girl (In The World) has been pushed down a spot to #4. P!nk continues to cling on to #10 with latest single Raise Your Glass. Taylor Swift has shifted a remarkable million copies of her third album Speak Now, and some album favourites have made their way on the Hot 100: Sparks Fly, Innocent, The Story Of Us, Dear John, Better Than Revenge, Haunted, Last Kiss, Enchanted, Never Grow Up, Long Live debut at #17, #27, #41, #54, #56, #63, #71, #75, #84, #85 respectively. Katy Perry's latest single Firework shoots up to #29 up from making a debut at #57 last week. Unfortunately, Shakira's latest single Loca has fallen to #58 after it reached a peak of #32 last week. Rihanna's latest single What's My Name? hits a new peak of #60, gaining the title of Airplay Gainer. Glee Cast's Time Warp enters the Hot 100 at #89 while Michael Buble's latest single Hollywood re-enters the Hot 100 at #90. Christina Perri's Jar of Hearts returns to the Hot 100 at #96 this week while Ne-Yo's One In A Million finally finds its way to the Hot 100, debuting at #97 this week.
Over on the Billboard 200 albums chart, Taylor Swift has shifted over a million units of her third studio album Speak Now, which has thus been certified platinum in its first week of release. Glee's The Rocky Horror Glee Show falls a spot to #7 from its debut at #6 last week. Michael Buble's Hollywood: The Deluxe EP makes an entrance at #10 this week. Shakira's latest record Sale El Sol falls to #16 while the Hannah Montana Forever soundtrack has fallen to #17. Katy Perry's sophomore pop album Teenage Dream moves up to #18 up from #22 last week. Michael Buble's multi-platinum selling album Crazy Love skyrockets to #27 up from #115, earning the Greatest Gainer title. David Archuleta's sophomore pop album has fallen to #163. Glee's Mark Salling's first studio album Pipe Dreams debuts at #189.
Michael Buble - Hollywood live @ The X Factor (UK)
Jazz/pop Canadian crooner Michael Buble took to the UK to perform Hollywood, the new single from the re-release of his multi-platinum selling album Crazy Love. The performance wasn't a great vocal, but the crowd was great. It was fun for the most part, but he has a weird way of holding his microphone when he performs which is a little.. Queer. Nevertheless, Buble gave a solid performance which should see him clinging on to the Top 5 for the most part. The plug at the end for his music video for Hollywood made me crack up. "It's pretty good."
Jaz/pop crooner Michael Buble is looking as charming as ever in his latest music video for Hollywood, the current single which is taken off his Crazy Love re-release coming out later this year. This song is incredibly catchy and is even better than Haven't Met You Yet. The video sees Buble acting as different Hollywood stereotypes, including a jab at Justin Bieber that I completely laughed. I'm dying for more catchy pop songs like these from Michael Buble.
Pop superstar Katy Perry continues to top the Hot 100 at #1 for a second consecutive week. Ke$ha's latest single Take It Off sticks at #8 for a second week in a row. Inching its way up on the Hot 100 is OneRepublic's latest offering Secrets and Adam Lambert's latest dance/pop single If I Had You sitting at new peaks of #26 and #31 respectively. It's the release week of Sara Bareilles' sophomore album Kaleidoscope Heart which means it has propelled the lead single King of Anything to #32, a new peak for the single. Selena Gomez & The Scene's latest single A Year Without Rain makes a debut at #35. Michael Buble's latest single Hollywood makes a debut at #55 while Daughtry's latest single September hits a new peak of #57. Rihanna's latest single Only Girl (In The World) makes a debut at #75 on airplay alone, a singles artist she truly is. Spurred by the success of A Year Without Rain, Selena Gomez & The Scene's lead single Round And Round moves up from #82 to #77.
Singer songwriter Sara Bareilles dominates the Billboard 200 albums chart this week with Kaleidoscope Heart storming in at #1 with over 90, 000 copies sold in its first week. Katy Perry's Teenage Dream holds on to its position at #4 while Fantasia's Back To Me sits outside the Top 10 at #11. Looks like Sara Bareilles both starts and ends the chart as her debut album Little Voice re-enters at #200.
• British pop princess Pixie Lott is unstoppable. Pixie's debut album Turn It Up has already gone platinum in the UK, shifting over 400, 000 copies, plus two #1s in the UK, and her recently released single Gravity has become her fourth consecutive UK Top 40 hit. The 5th single is confirmed to be My Love to be released in the UK on the 7th of June.
• Canadian jazz/pop singer Michael Buble has done very well for his latest album Crazy Love has gone multi-platinum worldwide since its release late last year. The third single is confirmed for a March 15th UK release confirmed to be Cry Me A River.
• The soulful crooner better known as Alexandra Burke will release a US version of Overcome, her debut album which has since gone platinum in the UK, somewhere around April this year if things go as planned. The third single from the album was originally expected to be The Silence but will instead be a remix version of one of the songs that is already available on the UK edition of Overcome called All Night Long, although the release date is still unknown.
• Whitney Houston's comeback world tour hasn't been too successful, with the date in Brisbane, Australia had people walking out of her concert saying she has lost that voice that propelled her to fame. But I don't think she has "lost" her famed voice, and that's probably what her label thinks as well. The next single set for a UK release of April 5th will be Nothin' But Love.
Ke$ha continues to take top spot on the Billboard Hot 100, blocking even the We Are The World: 25 For Haiti from hitting the top like what Everybody Hurts did in the UK, which debuted atop the UK Singles Chart. With news of Blah Blah Blah featuring 3OH!3 being the second single single from Ke$ha's debut album Animal, Blah Blah Blah leaps to #11 this week. Adam Lambert's Whataya Want From Me is becoming his highest peaking song so far, sitting just outside the top 30, moving from #35 last week to #31 this week. American Idol Season 9's famed auditioner General Larry Platt surprised us with the "hook" found in Pants On The Ground, which quickly became the most talked about audition. This week, Pants On The Ground makes its debut at #46. Guess anything and everything can chart nowadays. Carrie Underwood is quickly getting herself another hit with Temporary Home despite hardly any promotion, peaking to #54 this week. Rihanna's latest single Rude Boy from Rated R arrives on the Hot 100 at #64.
Sade's comeback album Soldier Of Love debuts atop the Billboard 200 albums chart this week, pushing last week's chart topper Lady Antebellum into #2. Christina Aguilera re-appears on the Billboard 200 albums chart with Keeps Gettin' Better: A Decade Of Hits re-entering the charts at #180.
Ke$ha continues her domination on the Hot 100 with TiK ToK, and it seems Ke$ha isn't going down soon. The Black Eyed Peas' fourth official single Imma Be from The E.N.D. leaps to #2, and whether it hits the roof will all depend on Ke$ha. Lady Gaga's Bad Romance loses popularity this week, slipping to #5, but while Bad Romance falls, Telephone rises, moving up to #16 this week. Thanks to that stunning performance at the Grammys, P!nk's Glitter In The Air debuts at #19. Orianthi's According To You moves up yet again, this time to #20. Michael Buble's Haven't Met You Yet continues rising, this week to #30. OneRepublic continues its late rise with All The Right Moves moving up to #47. The Grammy stars shine on the Billboard 200, with Beyonce's I Am.. Sasha Fierce and P!nk's Funhouse flying up to #14 and #15 respectively.
I'm sorry, but Lady Gaga, looks like your Bad Romance isn't taking the top spot yet, with Ke$ha's TiK ToK one of the hottest songs right now. The Black Eyed Peas' Imma Be climbs up into the top 5, entering at #4 from #11 last week. Timbaland finally strikes from a hit from Shock Value II with Carry Out, which features Justin Timberlake, peaking at #11 this week. Another track with Justin Timberlake coming in the form of Hallelujah gets the Digital Gainer trophy, with the Haiti single which features Matt Morris and Charlie Sexton. Looks like people are really craving for new Justin Timberlake music. Colbie Caillat's iTunes Sessions album debuts at #72, just 2 spots behind her sophomore album Breakthrough. Orianthi's Believe makes it way to #99 this week. Rather interestingly and surprisingly, Adele makes a re-entry into the charts with 19 returning to #117.
Honestly, I find it very touching everyone around the world is chipping in to help Haiti throught this disaster. Plans for a single from the UK was announced a few weeks ago and here's the radio rip. Some of the many artists that chipped in are Alexandra Burke, Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, Leona Lewis, Michael Buble, Cheryl Cole among others. The single will be avilable February 8th so please show your support.
Ke$ha's domination TiK ToK doesn't stop this week as she remains at the summit of the Hot 100, holding Lady Gaga's Bad Romance off the top spot, standing at #2 this week. Flashback Song Of The Week: Michael Bublé - Feeling Good
Feeling Good was the lead single from Michael Bublé's 2005 studio album It's Time but failed to make much chart impact. I thought it was rather pitiful becuase he nailed this big jazz standard.
We review the latest in 21st century. Mostly we do pop, but it doesn't really matter, along with new music premieres, video premieres, album premieres. If the links don't work, please notify me in the cbox right below and I will post a new link in the cbox. Thanks.
Artist Of The Month. (November 2011)
The Power Rangers of British pop, The Saturdays, are returning this year with a more mature sound and image, with the girlband taking a stab at the pop/dance wave with their fourth album On Your Radar's first single Notorious being a total flip in direction in their sound, and was noticeably more clubby compared to their previous singles and albums. They then took things a level further with the complete rave-tastic All Fired Up, which is without a doubt their best single release, not surprising since the track was produced by production powerhouse Xenomania, the machine behind pretty much all of Girls Aloud's discography. The pop five-piece are charging forward with the Christmassy ballad My Heart Takes Over before their album On Your Radar drops November 21st!
