Opening for NKOTBSB, namely New Kids On The Block and the Backstreet Boys, out on tour has left little time for Jordin Sparks to do proper promo for her new single I Am Woman. Her stint on American Idol managed to land I Am Woman at #72 on the Hot 100, but after that, it pretty much disappeared off the charts.
On Idol, Jordin was surrounded by a group of dancers and some choreography, and when it's just down to Jordin and two dancers, the focus was placed on her vocals and just basically her. Some flaws definitely showed up, because while I thought she was a decent dancer on the Idol performance, this just told me she can't, really.
Someone get her on a massive stage with some massive choreography that will slay us all please. Thanks.
Wahey. Adele's lodged another week at #1 on the Hot 100 with Rolling In The Deep getting the Airplay Gainer Title, while Katy Perry stays strong at #2 with E.T.. After the not exactly embarrassing flop that was Judas, Gaga's official third single The Edge of Glory Top 3 debut seems more by Gaga's usual standards. Jennifer Lopez slips three spots to #6 with On The Floor. Glee's cover of this week's #1 Rolling In The Deep enters at #29, while the rest of this week's covers follow suit with Friday at #34, Jar of Hearts at #49, Isn't She Lovely at #65, I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance at #72 and Dancing Queen at #74. OneRepublic's slow burner of a single Good Life rises to a new peak of #44. Jordin Sparks' new single I Am Woman debuts at #82 thanks to that performance on American Idol. Jennifer Lopez' I'm Into You falls to #91 in its second week out. Adele's Turning Tables has reappeared on the Hot 100 at #96 while Taylor Swift debuts with her new pop single The Story of Us at #98.
Adele's 21 spends yet another week at the top of the Billboard 200 Albums Chart while the talented balladeer Christina Perri's debut set Lovestrong debuts at #4. After a top 5 debut with comeback album Love?, JLo's record has fallen to #9 this week.
After her last album Battlefield underperformed on the charts and on the sales front, Jordin Sparks is back with her new single - an empowering female anthem all too similar to Beyonce's Run The World (Girls). I can't get myself to like Beyonce's track, and I'm not too crazy about Jordin's I Am Woman either. Both songs are simply too alike to ignore, and it's crazy just how much the both songs are all coming out at around the same time. Of course, I won't call I Am Woman a total rip-off of Run The World (Girls), as Jordin must've been working on it for a while now.
Jordin's charming girl next door image on her debut self-titled album was edged out on Battlefield and she takes things a step further on I Am Woman. But unlike Battlefield, I Am Woman isn't an amazing underrated pop masterpiece, and for now, I'm only half-liking this new soung for Jordin.
I am, however, excited to see the visual for the music video. Jordin's growing up and maturing so I'm not surprised that she's gone for such a sound. Maybe the new era will be filled with empowering, sexy dance floor anthems. She definitely has the voice to pull off anything and for now, is a natural progression in her career.

Big News: Jordin Sparks hits the studio with Claude Kelly!
So much for that little break Jordin Sparks was talking about. Jordin recently landed the role of Nina Rosario in the Tony Award-winning Broadway show In the Heights, playing a limited 12-week Broadway debut engagement at the Richard Rodgers Theatre from August 19 through November 14. And that came straight after the moderate-selling Battlefield Tour.
But Broadway isn't over yet and she recently tweeted that she has returned to the studio with Claude Kelly to work on her third studio album. This means a release date of 2011, also the hottest year in music after a rather lacklustre 2010 so far. But like I said before, what Jordin needs now is an epic ballad showcasing that brilliant vocal range she has, like what Bleeding Love did for Leona Lewis, it's just what Jordin needs to put her back on top.
PS. I have both of her albums and Battlefield was a good album, just that the wrong singles were chosen. S.O.S. (Let The Music Play) should have never been the second single. It definitely should have gone to Emergency (911) and then No Parade, followed by Was I The Only One and Watch You Go should've ended the Battlefield era. Yeah, Jive sucks, I know. They'd better not screw up the third album.
Big News: Jordin Sparks gives a sneak preview of Beauty & The Beast
"Disney’s #1 most requested title returns to movie theaters for an exclusive two-day cinema event on September 29, 2010 and October 2, 2010 hosted by Jordin Sparks with an exclusive sneak peek at her “Beauty and the Beast” music video!"
I need to hear the song in full and I want Jordin to have some big notes, but daaaanngggg, Jordin's looking good!
In what I assume to be a Battlefield leftover, a new Jordin Sparks song called Turn This Car Around just leaked. Despite a relatively good chart performance of Battlefield, which has since shifted over a million units since its release last year, Sparks' album itself hasn't been able to match the success. The second single S.O.S. (Let The Music Play) failed to ignite the Billboard Hot 100, but managed to top the Hot Dance/Club Play Charts, shifting just over 100, 000 copies of the single. Nevertheless, enjoy!

• Cheryl Cole's third single Parachute from her debut solo album 3 Words will be released 15th March in the UK. The music video to Parachute is already released and has been met with praise from critics. Cheryl debuted the performance of Parachute at her very own Cheryl Cole's Night In.
• Releasing her own version of Fefe Dobson's hit Don't Let It Go to Your Head, Jordin Sparks has already released Don't Let It Go to Your Head as a digital download in the UK. Jordin has mentioned she has other songs in mind for the third single in the US. Shortly after Jordin's album was released Dobson said, "Jordin Sparks just did [that song], which was on Sunday Love, which was very cool. She did kind of, like, a more R&B version of it, which I think is really nice, actually. It was really cool that she didn't try and do a rock version of it, and she did what she's more comfortable with, which I thought was awesome."
• Pixie Lott's debut studio effort has done quite well in her native country and she is even up for awards at the BRIT Awards ceremony. Gravity is set to be the fourth single from Turn It Up and the music video for Gravity will premiere soon, as confirmed by Pixie on her Twitter account and will be released on the 22nd of February.
• Colbie Caillat's Breakthrough was up for a Grammy and hit the top spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Confirmed to be the second single off the album is I Never Told You, and Colbie has started promoting it already, with a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live and a couple of radio shows. It is already available, and was released February 1st.
• Also noteworthy are We Are The Fallen's debut single, which has almost a complete minute over the previous digital download release. Bury Me Alive was sent to radio stations and was available in the US, UK, Canada and Ireland music stores as of February 2nd.
Jordin Sparks won the sixth season of American Idol when she was 17 years old, making her the youngest winner. She followed her American Idol victory with the release of her self-titled debut album in 2007, which has gone Platinum in the United States, having sold about 2 million copies worldwide. Due to the success of her debut album and its singles, she has won an American Music Award in 2008 and received her first Grammy nomination in 2009.
Jordin Sparks' sophomore album Battlefield was released in July 2009 worldwide and has released two singles from the album, Battlefield, and S.O.S. (Let The Music Play) which peaked at #10 and did not chart on the Billboard Hot 100 respectively. She recently performed on the VH1 Divas 2009 along with many other accomplished female musical acts such as Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis, Adele, Jennifer Hudson among others.
Jordin Sparks is signed under Jive Records along with fellow Idol contestants David Archuleta, Kris Allen, and Allison Iraheta. In terms of album sales in the United States, she is 8th with a total of 1, 154, 000 behind Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, Clay Aiken, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, and David Cook.
Every once in a while, I compile a series of "The Essentials" which I feel is the best of songs from every artist. So far I've compiled quite a number of artists, and here they are so far.
Guess what people? Black Eyed Peas is STILL at #1 with I Gotta Feeling this week on the Hot 100. This really begs the question, "Who will replace them?". that'd be interesting to see. Meanwhile, You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift climbs the charts once again to #4, up from #6 last week. Miley Cyrus' latest Party In The USA drops to #6. Mariah Carey's Obsessed seems to like the #11 spot, it is thoroughly deserving of a higher spot. Beyonce's Sweet Dreams jumped from #33 last week to a new peak of #18. Jordin Sparks' Battlefield drops to #21. Kelly Clarkson's Already Gone is sure to be another hit for her, climbing up 4 spots to #31. Cascada's Evacuate The Dancefloor was just rising just last week but has dropped to #47 again. Happy, the first single of Leona Lewis' second album Echo, has debuted at #50 this week. I honestly expected a lot more from her and also expected it to debut higher from the charts. But I have a feeling it will definitely rise next week. Mariah Carey's second single off Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel, I Wanna Know What Love Is, a cover of Foreigner's hit, debuts at #66 on the charts this week. Another BEP song debuts on the charts, Meet Me Halfway at #75. Will this be the song to continue The Black Eyed Peas streak of #1s so far? Whitney Houston's I Look To You climbs to a new peak of #83 this week. Carrie Underwood's lead single from third studio album Play On, Cowboy Casanova debuts at #96. This track needs to climb, simply because it's amazing.
Jay-Z's The Blueprint 3 proves it isn't a one-hit wonder, spending its second consecutive week at number 1. Due to her guest star on Oprah, Whitney Houston got that sales boost and as a result, slotted back into #2. Nelly Furtado's full-length spanish album Mi Plan debuts this week at #39. Marie Digby's Breathing Underwater peaks at #183 this week.
Jordin Sparks - SOS (Let The Music Play) (Single Review)
Track Listing: SOS (Let The Music Play)
Jordin Sparks' debut album was brilliant, and I really was looking forward to her next album. And when I heard Battlefield I knew her next album would have more catchy tunes. And it was obvious her sophomore album was going to be a bit different from what we are all used to since the first album. I actually quite enjoyed Battlefield, and after buying the album, there were some standout tracks that I thought would be great for singles. And when I first heard that her second single was going to be SOS (Let The Music Play), I was shocked. The "S-S-S-S-SOS" starting of the song made Jordin sound so immature, far from the sound I was used to. The lyrics were creative though. I didn't like the track upon first listen, and after the next few, I still wasn't warming up to it. It was only recently when I heard the song again did I actually start having the song stuck in my head. After playing it a few times, I found the track irritating once again and I hated the "S-S-S-S-SOS" part. That just destroyed the entire track. I liked the fact that the beats were catchy, the lyrics were creative, and I know it's going to do pretty well on the charts. But somehow, it still leaves me a bit cold. And its obvious why Battlefield was the first single instead of this. The next single better be good. It's still a decent track, don't get me wrong, but it's not amazing.
This shouldn't come as a surprise - The Black Eyed Peas are still at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with I Gotta Feeling, spending its 13th week on the charts. Jay Sean's latest hit, Down, is #2 on the charts this week. Miley Cyrus continues being at #3 with her latest single Party In The USA that can be found on her The Time Of our Lives (EP). Taylor Swift drops to #6 with You Belong With Me. Mariah Carey's newest single Obsessed reaches a new high at #7, and I can already predict will be her 19th Billboard Hot 100 number 1 hit. Shakira's She Wolf still remains at #12. With the release of Colbie Caillat's sophomore album Breakthrough which debuted at #1 on the Top 200 album chart just last week, has risen again, this time fom #18 to #15. Following closely behind is Jordin Sparks with Battlefield. Cascada's Evacuate The Dancefloor peaks at a new high of #41 with Kelly Clarkson at #43 with her latest single Already Gone. I Look To You, the title track of Whitney Houston's comeback album, peaks at #70. Million Dollar Bill, also by Whitney Houston, debuts at #100.
Whitney Houston's comeback album tops the Billboard 200 in its first week of release. Miley Cyrus' The Time Of Our Lives (EP) trails behind at #2. Last week's chart topper Breakthrough by Colbie Caillat is #5 this week. Kristinia Debarge's Exposed drops from #196 to #200.
Now that August is over, and we gave you a month to vote for your favourite album of July '09, it seems Jordin Sparks sophomore album Battlefield has won. I find that really weird because sales were disappointingly low but I really did like Jordin's sophomore effort and I am rather glad it won. Daughtry was second with Leave This Town, followed by Ashley Tisdale's Guilty Pleasure with Demi Lovato's Here We Go Again closely behind.
Jordin Sparks - SOS (Let The Music Play) [Remix Promo CD]

Black Eyed Peas still dominates the charts with I Gotta Feeling spending its 11th week dominating the Hot 100. Miley Cyrus' Party In the USA is still stuck at #2 with Taylor Swift following closely at #4. Cobra Starship remains at #9 with Good Girls Go Bad. Mariah Carey's Obsessed is still at its peak of #11. Katy Perry and Jordin Sparks are #14 and #16 respectively with Waking Up In Vegas and Battlefield respectively. Colbie Caillat's latest single from her sophomore effort Breakthrough's Fallin' For You is #46. Cascada's Evacuate The Dancefloor has risen to #57.
Reba McEntire scores a #1 album on the Billboard 200 with Keep On Loving You. Jessie James has dropped to I admit, a disappointingly low #82. Carrie Underwood's Carnival Ride spends its 96th week on the Billboards at #114. Kristinia Debarge's dcebut album Exposed is #130 this week. Cascada's Evacuate The Dancefloor debuts at #155.
Good news for Black Eyed Peas fans, I Gotta Feeling is still dominating the charts, followed by Miley Cyrus' latest song Party In The USA. I'll be damned if Miley Cyrus still stays behind The Black Eyed Peas, looks like Disney fans let their guard down. Run This Town featuring Jay-Z, Rihanna, and Kanye West is third on the Hot 100 charts. Taylor Swift drops to #4 with You Belong With Me. Obsessed by Mariah Carey reaches a new peak at #11. Her 19th Number 1? We'll see. Katy Perry's Waking Up In Vegas drops to #14 from #11. Battlefield by Jordin Sparks in #17 this week. Wanted by newcomer Jessie James reaches a new high at #40. Cascada debuts at #80 with Evacuate The Dancefloor.
Hot Mess by Cobra Starship debuts on the Billboard 200 at #4. Here We Go Again by Demi Lovato stays strong at #18. Newcomer Jessie James debuts at #23. Beyonce's I Am... Sasha Fierce is #44 this time. The rest are all predictable to where they are on the chart.
Still topping the charts is The Black Eyed Peas with I Gotta Feeling. Taylor Swift rose from 3rd from the previous week to the second position with You Belong With Me. Cobra Starship rises from the 10th in place to a new peak of 7 with Good Girls Go Bad featuring Leighton Meester from Gossip Girl. Boom Boom Pow, the lead single from The Black Eyed Peas' The E.N.D is 10th this week. Katy Perry is 11th this week with Waking Up In Vegas. Lady Gaga's LoveGame is 12th this week. Mariah Carey stays at 14th with Obsessed. Jordin Sparks drops to 16th with Battlefield. Halo by Beyonce is 33rd.

Artist Of The Month. (November 2011)
The Power Rangers of British pop, The Saturdays, are returning this year with a more mature sound and image, with the girlband taking a stab at the pop/dance wave with their fourth album On Your Radar's first single Notorious being a total flip in direction in their sound, and was noticeably more clubby compared to their previous singles and albums. They then took things a level further with the complete rave-tastic All Fired Up, which is without a doubt their best single release, not surprising since the track was produced by production powerhouse Xenomania, the machine behind pretty much all of Girls Aloud's discography. The pop five-piece are charging forward with the Christmassy ballad My Heart Takes Over before their album On Your Radar drops November 21st!
