Avril Lavigne - Wish You Were Here [Music Video Premiere]

Pop rebel Avril Lavigne has always released at least one slow ballad as a single during every album campaign and for her latest moderately successful fourth album Goodbye Lullaby, the acoustic album standout Wish You Were Here has been lifted as the album's third single following the happy-go-lucky lead single What The Hell and pop/rock anthem second single Smile. Of course, it's not going to set the charts on fire, but I think this song'll stick around on the charts a longer time than Smile ever could, and could be on heavy rotation on radio, picking up those Hot AC spins.

Billboard Update

After a billion desperate attempts to hit #1 on the Hot 100 and make chart history, Katy Perry has finally gone and done it. Last Friday Night (TGIF) finally dethrones LMFAO's overrated Party Rock Anthem, shoving it to #2 while Maroon 5's Christina Aguilera-assisted Moves Like Jagger vaults to #3 getting the Airplay Gainer Title. Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley's duet on Remind Me rise a spot to #17 while Rihanna leaps up 25 stops to #25 with latest single Cheers (Drink To That). Jason DeRulo's new single It Girl makes its way to #39 this week. Adele's Someone Like You continues its upward crawl, sitting just outside the Top 50 at #51 this week. Avril Lavigne's Smile has started to fall, after peaking at a measly #68 last week, the pop/rock number has taken a tumble to #73 this week. After plummeting down the chart since its top 10 debut last month, Demi Lovato's Skyscraper finally makes a move up to #82 while Taylor Swift's new single Sparks Fly re-enters at #84. Lady Gaga's You And I re-enters at #96 as well.

The world's two biggest egos Jay Z and Kanye West have teamed up and their album Watch The Throne bows at #1 over on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart. On the opposite spectrum of the chart, David Cook's close to falling out of the chart as This Loud Morning holds unsteadily at #188.

LMFAO's rubbish Party Rock Anthem is still on top, reigning at #1 on the Hot 100 again while Katy Perry's Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) is still entrenched at #2. Hell Meets Evil's Bruno Mars assisted second single Lighter vaults to #5, notching up the Airplay Gainer Title. Britney Spears' third Top 10 single from #1 album Femme Fatale, I Wanna Go, rises up to a new peak of #7 while Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera's collaboration on Moves Like Jagger lands the Digital Gainer Title and shoots up to its original peak position of #8 when it debuted on the chart earlier up from #25 last week. Jennifer Lopez' I'm Into You is just beginning to gain some serious momentum, rising to #41 this week. Rihanna's new single Cheers (Drink To That) enters the top half of the Hot 100 for the first time, skyrocketing to #50 up from #91 last week. Adele's Someone Like You is finally getting exposure in the US, vaulting up to #57. Avril Lavigne may have announced that she's shot the video for third single Wish You Were Here from the underperforming Goodbye Lullaby album, but second single Smile is still making its way up the chart, hitting a new peak of #68. After making a US edition of song Starry Eyed, it seems the American audience has finally warmed up to Ellie Goulding as her most recent UK single Lights debuts at #85 on the Hot 100.

Adele reclaims her #1 spot on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart while Kelly Rowland takes a ten spot tumble down to #13 with Here I Am. David Cook's sophomore album This Loud Morning stands at #142 this week while Avril Lavigne's Goodbye Lullaby rises two spots up to #160. Ellie Goulding's debut album Lights re-enters at #200 this week.

Billboard Update

LMFAO's terrible Party Rock Anthem is still reigning at #1 on the Hot 100, showing how shit American pop music is right now, while Katy Perry's still right on their tails with Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) landing the Airplay Gainer Title. The Bruno Mars-assisted track Lighters has made a new peak at #7, while Britney's I Wanna Go launches into the Top 10 at #9 this week. Beyonce's new single Best Thing I Never Had, a supposedly emotional song devoid of emotion moves up three spots to #16. Maroon 5's summery pop brilliance that is Moves Like Jagger featuring Christina Aguilera vaults into the Top #25 at #25 this week. Jennifer Lopez' I'm Into You moves up to #49 this week. Clearly this diva doesn't even need to try. Two other tracks moving up are Adele's Someone Like You and Avril Lavigne's new tune Smile, shifting up to #73 and #75 respectively. Demi Lovato's Skyscraper takes another large tumble down to #80 this week. Another Adele track on the Hot 100 that's not Rolling in the Deep is her most recent UK single Set Fire To The Rain, re-entering the chart at #84, while 21 album cut Rumour Has It arrives on the Hot 100 at #96. Rihanna's new single Cheers (Drink to That) debuts at #91 this week.

Over on the Albums Chart, Country star Eric Church has landed the top spot with his album Chief while Adele follows closely behind with 21. Surprisingly, Kelly Rowland has notched up a Top 3 charting album with her latest set Here I Am. Colbie Caillat's All of You slips two spots down to #17. David Cook's sophomore album This Loud Morning clings onto the rim of the Top 100, standing at #93 this week.

Billboard Update

LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem is still reigning at #1 on the Hot 100, but Katy Perry is really gaining some serious ground with latest single Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.), peaking at #2 this week with the Airplay Gainer Title. Bad Meets Evil aka Eminem and Royce da 5'9" have a new single out featuring Bruno Mars called Lighters which hops on the trend of singers singing on rapper's tracks at enters the Top 10 at #10 thanks to the Digital Gainer Title. Britney's new tune I Wanna Go is also inching closer to the Top 10, landing just outside at #11 this week. Beyonce's dreary and completely dull ballad Best Thing I Never Had moves up to #19 this week, the first time any of Bey's songs from the 4 era has made it into the Top 20. Rihanna's summer ballad California King Bed shoots up ten spots to #37 this week while Nicole Scherzinger stays firmly at #39 with Right There. Selena Gomez & The Scene's Love You Like A Love Song continues free falling down the chart, landing at #44 this week. But I guess this week's biggest faller is Demi Lovato's Skyscraper. Despite the pop ballad becoming Lovato's highest charting song on the Hot 100 to date at #10, it's slipped all the way to #51 this week. Oof. But it's not all bleak in the pop world as Jennifer Lopez' I'm Into You rises further to #55 despite not having any proper promotion in the States. Avril Lavigne's Smile is entrenched at #80 this week. Making its way up is Adele's Someone Like You, inching up to #85 this week.

Parent album 21 has also regained top spot over on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart. Since her untimely death, Amy Winehouse has seen a massive resurgence in terms of album and single sales, and second album Back to Black re-enters the chart at #9 while first album Frank debuts at #57, actually marking a new peak for the album. Falling out of the Top 10 and at #15 this week is Colbie Caillat's third disc All of You. Christina Perri's debut set Lovestrong skyrockets up the chart at #54 up from #90 the previous week. David Cook continues plummeting down the chart as This Loud Morning falls to #73 this week.

Party Rock Anthem and Pitbull's Give Me Everything have both maintained their first two spots on the Hot 100, but Katy Perry's gaining serious momentum now with Last Friday Night racking up the Airplay Gainer Title. OneRepublic have also stayed dead on at #8 while Demi Lovato's knocks out her highest debut on the Hot 100 so far as Skyscraper arrives at #10. On its way up is I Wanna Go, the third single lifted off Britney's latest disc Femme Fatale, peaking at #13 this week. After peaking at #35 last week, Selena Gomez' lulzy new single Love You Like A Love Song has slipped two spots down to #37 while Nicole Scherzinger's not unpleasant midtempo number Right There rises to #39 this week. The Kelly Clarkson assisted track Don't You Wanna Stay by Jason Aldean has re-arrived at #48. The currently single Jennifer Lopez' current single I'm Into You moves up to #66. Colbie Caillat's album All of You has dropped and album cut What If debuts at #77 while Avril Lavigne's current single Smile rises to a new peak of #80 this week. Adele, fresh off the back of her 7 VMA nominations, has got a new song on the Hot 100 that's not Rolling In The Deep. It's her most recent UK #1 - Someone Like You, re-entering the Hot 100 at #97 after a brief one week stay the week 21 was released.

Blake Shelton's new album Red River Blue bows at #1 over on the Billboard 200 Album Chart while Colbie Caillat's new disc All Of You debuts at #6, mostly due to little hype around the project. Selena Gomez & the Scene's third album When The Sun Goes Down falls to #10 this week. Scotty McCreery's sure got a loyal fanbase with his American Idol Season 10 Highlights disc attaining the Greatest Gainer Title at #20 this week. America really needed a Country American Idol again after all. In its third week out, David Cook's This Loud Morning is plummeting down the chart at #57 this week. This man really needs a mega crossover hit right now, though nothing on This Loud Morning would do it for him though. Adele's iTunes Festival EP has debuted at #62 this week. Avril Lavigne's Goodbye Lullaby album has risen exactly twenty spot to #149 this week.

Billboard Update

The annoying Party Rock Anthem has found its way to the top of the Hot 100, trailed behind by Pitbull's Give Me Everything. Katy Perry seems unable to move past #4 with her latest single Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.). But it appears OneRepublic is on track to score their first mega hit since Apologize went to #2 a couple years back, with latest single Good Life vaulting into the Top 10, collecting the Digital Gainer Title standing at #8 this week. Jason DeRulo and Britney Spears are also both heading upwards this week, with Don't Wanna Go Home moving up to #16 and I Wanna Go rising to #17. Beyonce could very well get her first proper hit this era with Best Thing I Never Had rising to #23. Putting two mega country stars together often means big sales, and Brad Paisley's collaboration with Carrie Underwood on Remind Me seems to be doing a neat job for itself, hitting a new peak of #27 with virtually no promotion. And this streak of moving upwards is even affecting Disney darling Selena Gomez and her hypnotically robotic new single Love You Like A Love Song leaping from #66 to #35 this week. Rihanna's summer ballad California King Bed is also inching its way to the top, moving to #47 this week. You thought you'd never see this day coming, but Nicole Scherzinger's Right There seems to be rubbing American audiences the right way, peaking at #52 this week while fellow reality TV singing competition judge Jennifer Lopez, amidst her divorce with husband Marc Anthony, moves up the chart with I'm Into You at an all time high of #72. Avril Lavigne's new single Smile has finally arrived on the Hot 100, debuting at #94.

Over on the Albums Chart, Beyonce and Adele are non-movers with 4 and 21 holding the top two positions on the chart in that order while Selena Gomez & Her Virtual Band's new disc When The Sun Goes Down rises a spot to #3 after debuting at #4 last week. David Cook, however, has taken a little tumble as This Loud Morning falls from #7 to #26 this week. For reasons no one knows, the soundtrack to Christina Aguilera's debut film Burlesque scoops the Greatest Gainer Award as the album shoots up to #68 up from #147. British pop artist Ellie Goulding has found her way back to the chart as Lights re-enters at #127.

Avril Lavigne - Smile [Music Video Premiere]

Avril Lavigne has premiered the video for her second single Smile lifted from latest disc Goodbye Lullaby and if you missed the old Avril Lavigne, here she is.

The video starts off with Lavigne playing around with spray paint before jumping around in a white room (a set she personally decorated), the set reminiscent of Lavigne's videos of the past. Of course, it quickly got boring and she moved on to another set (which looks like the set of the video for The Saturdays' Higher) where she picked up the broken fragments of the lives of random people along the street.

In other words, the entire video was quite the snoozefest but Lavigne looked incredible in the black and white scenes. Simple but stunning. Still could've been more interesting though.

Jennifer Lopez' addictive club stomper On The Floor has flown up to #10, after making a tiny slip to #13 last week. Avril Lavigne falls a sharp drop to #24 with Goodbye Lullaby falling 17 spots down. Ke$ha's I Am The Dance Commander + I Command You To Dance The Remix Album arrives on the chart at #36. Billboard Update

Surprise surprise. Guess who's #1 on the Hot 100 still? Yup, Born This Way still reigns over the Hot 100, with Katy Perry's new offering E.T. quickly gaining some serious steam, peaking at #2 while Rihanna rises to #3 again with the Airplay Gainer Title. After scoring another Top 10 hit a couple weeks ago with their cover of Teenage Dream, Glee has done it again, debuting at #6 with Loser Like Me. The Glee effect continues with Get it Right at #16, Raise Your Glass at #36, Blackbird at #37, Misery at #52, Hell To The No at #53 and Candles at #71. Unfortunately, Jennifer Lopez' On The Floor has taken quite a fall, falling to #13 this week. Hmmm, time for some much-deserved promo, J.Lo? Oof. In it's third week out, Britney's Till The World Ends dips from #9 to a shocking #23, while Selena Gomez & The Scene debut right behind at #24 with Who Says. Jessie J moves up a little again with Price Tag making a new peak at #54. How about a performance on American Idol then? Jennifer Hudson makes a move up to #89 with Where You At. Expect that to move even further up with album release week and a promotional spot on Idol. Christina Perri's melodic new single Arms debuts at #94 this week. Miranda Cosgrove's current single Dancing Crazy debuts right at the rim of the Hot 100 at #100.

Over on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, Adele rises again to take poll spot with 21 right at the top while Avril Lavigne's Goodbye Lullaby falls three spots to #7. Miranda Cosgrove's new EP High Maintainence debuts at an unimpressive #34. After a performance on American Idol, Season 9's Lee DeWyze is back on the charts with Live It Up re-entering at #96.

Lady Gaga spends her fifth consecutive week at #1 with Born This Way with Cee Lo Green's F**k You trailing behind her once again. Looking to lodge her fourth consecutive #1 track from Teenage Dream is Katy Perry with E.T. rising to #3 thanks to strong digital sales, while Rihanna slips a spot to #4 with S&M but gets the Airplay Gainer Title. Staying strong at #5 is Jennifer Lopez with On The Floor while Britney Spears leaps to #9 on the Hot 100 with her latest single Till The World Ends. Unfortunately, Ke$ha's Blow has fallen right to the rim of the Hot 100, falling to #10 this week. Moving up to #18 this week is Avril Lavigne's What The Hell, trailed behind by Christina Perri's breakout hit Jar of Hearts at #19. Glee's invasion on the Hot 100 is led by Landslide, debuting at #23 with Do You Wanna Touch Me, Animaland Kiss following suit at #57, #62 and #83. Jessie J shoots up with Price Tag peaking at #58 this week. Bruno Mars' The Lazy Song rises to #72 this week, making a brand peak. Jennifer Hudson's Where You At finally makes its chart impact, debuting at #96. Album track Wish You Were Here from Avril Lavigne's new album Goodbye Lullaby debuts at #99.

Over on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, Lupe Fiasco's new album Lasers ends Adele's chart reign as Lasers debuts at #1, pushing Adele's 21 into second place. Glee's new Volume 5 soundtrack debuts at #3 while Avril Lavigne's Goodbye Lullaby arrives at #4, making it her lowest-selling album so far in terms of first week sales. Bummer. With little to no promotion, Ellie Goulding's Lights was quietly released to the States, debuting at #129. Even I didn't know the release was so soon. Rubbish promotion. Sara Bareilles chart-topping album Kaleidoscope Heart re-enters at #192.

Avril Lavigne - What The Hell & Push live on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Avril Lavigne's "comeback" album Goodbye Lullaby may have only charted at #4, shifting a little over 80, 000 copies in its first week, but Lavigne's still plugging the album and the single/songs from the album, and hit Jimmy Kimmel Live to perform an acoustic version of What the Hell and her much-desired second single Push. The top 2 on the Hot 100 stay intact, with Cee Lo Green's Forget You closely behind Lady Gaga's Born This Way, which tops the Hot 100 for a 4th consecutive week. Rihanna's just creeping into the Top 3 with S&M. Another #1 for her? I think so, yes. Jennifer Lopez is doing incredible for herself right now, with On The Floor zipping up to the Top 5, only lagging behind P!nk's F**kin" Perfect. Rushing into the Top 10 is Ke$ha, whose latest single Blow peaks at an all-time high of #7 this week. Shooting up the chart as well is Jar of Hearts, the breakout hit from Christina Perri which peaks at #17 this week. Adele, however, falls to #18 with Rolling In The Deep. Britney Spears' new single Till The World Ends debuts at the rim of the Top 20. Is it just me, or is this Katy Perry's California Gurls and Teenage Dream all over again? Especially with the latter and Till The World Ends debuting at #20 while the albums' lead singles were all at higher positions on the chart. Slipping just a spot to #23 is Avril Lavigne's What The Hell while Jessie J gains some traction on the Hot 100, with Price Tag jumping to #78 this week.

Adele's 21 continues to top the Billboard 200 for a second consecutive week. Exactly what made this happen, I'm not sure, but the soundtrack for Burlesque has leaped more than a 100 spots up, hitting a new peak of #18 this week from #140 last week, getting the Greatest Gainer title.

A rather perky and energetic Avril Lavigne who just got back from Japan was on the Today Show to perform new single What The Hell. It is album release week after all. Lady Gaga continues to dominate the Hot 100 with Born This Way holding the #1 spot for a third consecutive, with Cee Lo Green refusing to let go as F**k You! gets the Airplay Gainer Title again for the second week in a row at #2. Some risers this week include P!nk's F**kin' Perfect and Rihanna's S&M, moving up to #4 and #5 this week, with S&M reaching a new peak this week. Katy Perry gets the Digital Gainer Title with new single E.T. featuring Kanye West rocketing up to #8. I wouldn't be surprised if this one hits #1 as well. Jennifer Lopez has finally gotten hit she's worked so hard for with On The Floor featuring Pitbull debuting at #9 this week. Also moving up the Hot 100 rapidly is Ke$ha and Adele - two artists on opposite spectrums of pop music, but nonetheless, both of their latest singles Blow and Rolling In The Deep respectively flying up to new peaks of #11 and #13 respectively. Christina Perri's Jar of Hearts continues going strong - remaining at its peak of #21 while Avril Lavigne slips to #22 with What The Hell. Glee's Hot 100 invasion this week starts with Don't You Want Me debuting at #49, with the other tracks Blame It (On The Alcohol), Tik Tok following suit, debuting at #55, #61 respectively. Adele's so-gorgeous-it's-impossible-not-to-fall-in-love-with-it ballad Someone Like You debuts at #65 this week, while another album track Set Fire To The Rain arrives at #88. Thanks to the almighty powers of VEVO and YouTube, Jessie J still hasn't disappeared from the Hot 100 yet, with Price Tag lingering around at #93 after a slip to #99 last week.

Over on the album's chart, there's nothing interesting to take note of except for the fact that Adele's landed her first US #1 album - with 21 shifting an impressive 352, 000 copies in its first week - while 19 gets the Greatest Gainer Title, flying up to #16 from #50.

Lady Gaga is still #1 on the Hot 100 with Born This Way, but surprise surprise. It's not Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Rihanna, P!nk, or Britney Spears snapping at her heels. It's Cee Lo Green with his mega hit single F**k You! skyrocketing to a shocking #2 with an Airplay Gainer title. Rihanna's latest single S&M continues to move up, moving on to a new peak of #7 this week. Justin Bieber collects his second Top 10 hit after his Top 5 hit Baby with Never Say Never moving up to #8, thanks to his movie of course. Britney Spears continues slipping with Hold It Against Me falling to #11. Notice how the music video didn't help the song rise after gradually falling. Avril Lavigne's What the Hell has also slipped a little, falling to #13 after hitting a peak of #11 last week. However, Christina Perri's going anywhere but down, flying up to a new peak of #21 with Jar of Hearts. Dang. What has that girl been doing? Adele's chart domination continues with Rolling In The Deep leaping to #26 this week. This week's album week. Expect Rolling In The Deep to fly even higher up next week. Katy Perry's fourth single E.T. which features the irrelevant verses from Kanye West has crashed the Billboard Hot 100 at #28 this week. Well, it's re-entered. It was released as a promo single prior the release of Teenage Dream last year. Ke$ha's also on her way up with current single Blow reaching #32 this week. Another week, another Glee episode. Last week's songs have reached the Hot 100 with Baby, Sing, Take Me Or Leave Me, Somebody To Love debuting at #47, #49, #51, #62 respectively while their previous cover of Forget You re-enters at #90 and Firework slips to #95. With little to no promotion, Colbie Caillat's new single I Do has fallen to #96. Thanks to the powers of VEVO and YouTube, Jessie J's still on the Hot 100, with Price Tag rising a spot to #99 this week. Get promoting, girl.

Over on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, Justin Bieber's Never Say Never: The Remixes bows at #1, this being his second #1 album. The rest? Nothing interesting to note, really.

Big News: Listen to Avril Lavigne's new album!

After a rather long hiatus due to her record label, pop/punk princess is back and you can now listen to her upcoming album Goodbye Lullaby is full! The album marks her fourth studio album, and she said that she wants to go the acoustic/pop route again, a sound that many fans would resonate with - it was the sound that dominated her music from her first two albums after all. After a shift into the poppier side of the spectrum with her third album The Best Damn Thing, Lavigne has now returned. It's not as acoustic/pop/rock as she'd have you believe.

It seems Lavigne has found the balance between her first two albums and her third album. Most songs do have an acoustic background, but are layered with a pop gloss on it. At least she's not stuck in 2007 like Jessica Mauboy. Anyway, some songs that I'm really liking are Wish You Were Here and Remember When. At least upon first listen. Most songs on the album are anthemic with big, sweeping choruses, with a few exceptions like Everybody Hurts, 4 Real, Darlin' and Goodbye. And the Max Martin productions on this album are easy to handpick as they have the poppiest production.

Goodbye Lullaby as a whole, is solid, but to be honest, it wasn't as great as I thought it was going to be. I was really hoping for a stripped down record, honest and just, amazing. And properly harking back to her older music. Make no mistake, this is still a step in the right direction. But I do admit I did expect a little more..

Check it out for yourself below!

Big News: Avril Lavigne subtly disses RCA. Again.

RCA/Jive have been getting shittier and shittier lately, and they've put many of their talented artists on the backburner - including one that is Avril Lavigne who's clearly unhappy. The Canadian singer/songwriter sat down with Digital Spy to do an interview, and when questioned about the year-long delay of upcoming album Goodbye Lullaby, Lavigne quipped: "Because my record company were being a typical record company and trying to give me their version of how it should be - trying to get me to go in a different direction. I had to fight with them over and over. I was like, 'No, this is a really special record to me and this is what I'm doing'."

Apparently, RCA wanted Lavigne to hop onto the dance/pop train, but she wasn't willing to back down, stating that "Radio's very rhythmic and urban and dance today. I think they wanted me to do something more like that, but that's not what my vision was for this album. I was signed by L.A. Reid on Arista Records when I was 16. He understood me and believed in me. Arista folded and I got put on RCA or whatever, then there were new people there, and every six months it changes and more new people come in. It's funny when someone new comes in and they've got an opinion too."

"I GOT PUT ON RCA OR WHATEVER." Just thought I might put some emphasis on this soon-to-be-classic line.

And Lavigne's also hoping Push will be the album's second single. Ahhh I can't wait for the deeper, more raw stuff! Meanwhile, head on over to Digital Spy to read the whole interview.
