Big News: Diana Vickers co-writes new Enrique Iglesias single!
Moments ago on Twitter, British singer Diana Vickers tweeted some exciting news - she co-wrote Enrique Iglesias' new single Mouth2Mouth featuring Jennifer Lopez!
It's a big deal considering Diana's status. The pop darling rose to fame on The X Factor, finishing fourth, before putting out her debut #1 album and single Songs From The Tainted Cherrytree and Once respectively. Unfortunately, the campaign took a beating when follow-up single The Boy Who Murdered Love fell short of the album and first single's success, stalling at #36 on the UK Singles Chart. Then back into the studio Diana went, before releasing My Wicked Heart, the first single released off a revamped version of Songs From The Tainted Cherrytree. However, despite landing a massive gig on The X Factor, the poor girl only made #13 on the UK Singles Chart. Then, the reworked album was scrapped, and Diana "parted ways" with RCA Records, which basically means she was dropped.
Cue tears.
Since then, Miss Vickers has kept herself busy, working on some new music in LA with various writers and producers to be released on an EP due out either later this year on early next year.
However, with Diana Vickers landing a songwriting cut on Enrique Iglesias' new single, will record labels start to be interested again? It's encouraging a pop artist like Diana herself is starting over again by building up her name writing for other artists. Not something you'd catch Rihanna or Selena Gomez doing. In a way, the pop industry needs people like Diana, pop artists that know what a good pop track should be about.
Get 'dem songwriting royalties Diana.

Big News: Diana Vickers parts ways with RCA Records!
Remember when I posted about The X Factor (UK) winner Alexandra Burke leaving SyCo to head to RCA? Well, it appears a contestant from that same season, British pop tart Diana Vickers has parted ways with RCA Records.
In her blog post, Diana explains:
Myself and RCA have decided to part company, purely based on a creative level. I will always be really thankful for the time we’ve spent together and the support they’ve given me. But, I’ve grown up a lot since the first album and whilst the past couple years have been a lot of fun and a great success, I’m now ready to take a wander down a different, very exciting path! In order to grow, this change has to be made.
With all this shifting of record labels down at The X Factor camp, what's going on? The only logical explanation for this is that Simon has signed a new deal with another record company to link to his upcoming American version of The X Factor, and has indirectly affected his British acts from the UK show as well. He previously dropped other X Factor winners Shayne Ward and Joe McElderry from his label SyCo, mainly because he can't promote male pop acts for shit, but this shouldn't really affect the Vickers.
However, Diana did reassure fans her new album is coming along well, and added:
I’m so proud of where the second album is right now and I’m counting down the minutes until it’s all ready and you guys can finally hear it! I’ve been having the best time over the past 6 months- being creative, working with so many inspirational people, falling in love with LA and growing as an artist.
Petite pop UK princess Diana Vickers narrowly missed the Top 10 on the UK Singles Chart and Scottish Singles Chart, debuting at #13 and #12 respectively. Still, it's a return to form after second single The Boy Who Murdered Love had a less than stellar showing, only peaking at a measly #36 on the UK Singles Chart. Vickers has been in a promo tour for the single and will go on her debut headlining tour at the end of the year. She performed My Wicked Heart at Koko Pop and it is one of her best vocal performances of that song, though the Vickers lacked a little energy to pull of the sassy track.
The ever so lovely Diana Vickers has been making the rounds promoting her spanking new single My Wicked Heart. She appeared on Live From Studio Five (which you can watch above) and T4 which you can catch below. She didn't perform but she's ever so bubbly and cute so it still works (somewhat). By the way, she's set to perform My Wicked Heart on the Alan Titchmarsh Show on November 2nd. Also, My Wicked Heart has entered the UK Singles Chart at #10, Ireland Singles Chart at #22 and #9 on the Scottish Singles Chart.
PS. Do you guys like the new banner? The nominations for MRAs 2010 will be posted soon. So excited! Keep an eye out for that!
Diana Vickers - My Wicked Heart live on This Morning
British pop star Diana Vickers hit This Morning to give a much better performance of her latest single My Wicked Heart compared to her performance on The X Factor. Vocally, it was a lot better than the X Factor performance, perhaps she wasn't as nervous here. With the theatrics toned down just a little due to being on a smaller stage, Vickers was the centre of attention this time. Check out that performance above and the interview below.
Diana Vickers - My Wicked Heart live on The X Factor
UK pop star Diana Vickers returned to The X Factor, the show that gained her nationwide exposure. Since then, she went on to release her debut album Songs From The Tainted Cherrytree which went to #1, along with its lead single Once. Her follow-up single The Boy Who Murdered Love underperformed, but Vickers is ready to move on to My Wicked Heart, available on the re-release of Songs From The Tainted Cherrytree to be released later this year.
About that performance, she looked pretty good. But the vocals were probably not her best, and she was yelling the last 4 lines of the chorus. Nevertheless, it's a performance worth checking out because the song's a hoot, and the stage set-up, props and costumes were pretty cool.
Diana Vickers - My Wicked Heart [Music Video Premiere]
Didn't see this one coming. Anyway. The X Factor (UK) has produced chart-topping stars like Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, JLS and more, but none have been as quirky as Diana Vickers. Her debut single Once stormed the UK Charts at #1 and her debut album Songs From The Tainted Cherrytree made it to #1 as well. However, her follow-up single The Boy Who Murdered Love didn't do quite as well, only making a peak at #36. Perhaps it lacked the ginormous chorus and production beats of Once. Well, if that's the case, My Wicked Heart will be a hit. I'll admit I didn't like it upon first listen but it's definitely growing on me, and sort of brings to mind Pixie Lott's Boys And Girls except it's a lot more playful.
The music video is.. Colourful. And it shows Diana at her very own circus. Interesting.
Big News: Take a listen to Diana Vickers' My Wicked Heart
Well, after I mentioned of a new Diana Vickers track, you can bet I wanted to hear a smash. But.. My Wicked Heart premiered on radio yesterday and I think it sounds just okay. It could be a grower, I don't know. But My Wicked Heart has hit the Internet and here it is in all it's medium quality glory. It sounds a bit like a pop record from last century and while it's fun and everything, it's hardly the genius that was Once or The Boy Who Murdered Love. Maybe I'll like it when it leaks in high quality but I'm so disappointed. Oh well, take a listen below and tell me what you think.
After The X Factor (UK)'s star Diana Vickers criminally underrated second single The Boy Who Murdered Love peaked at a less than spectacular #36 on the UK Singles Chart, she's decided to record another new track altogether. Especially since this was the follow-up to her poptastic debut single Once which stormed the UK Charts at #1. Nevertheless, Popjustice said of the new single My Wicked Heart as "a little bit bonkers and quite a lot amazing" which means just as fantastic as Once and The Boy Who Murdered Love. Trust Vickers to give us such quirky titles. Her debut album Songs From the Tainted Cherrytree will be re-packaged and re-released early next year. My Wicked Heart will be released digitally 7th November. But you don't have to wait too long to hear My Wicked Heart, which will premiere September 12th on Radio 1 (UK) at 8pm. Oh yes, I've got quite high expectations for this single and for Vickers to make a killer comeback on the charts.
She's going on tour at the end of the year as well which you can see dates here.
After the disappointing chart performance of second single The Boy Who Murdered Love, UK pop tart Diana Vickers has announced her debut headlining tour! She's been busy opening for UK boyband JLS of late to get some touring experience but I think she could be good doing her own stuff on her own tour.
Dates: 8th Nov - Manchester Academy 2 9th Nov - Leamington Spa Assembly Rooms 12th Nov - London Koko 13th Nov - Newcastle Academy 14th Nov - Glasgow ABC 15th Nov - Dublin Academy
Diana Vickers - The Boy Who Murdered Love live @ The 5 O' Clock Show
This is Diana Vickers, one of UK's rising pop acts. She was in The X Factor (UK) the same season Alexandra Burke won. Diana didn't win but I'm loving her single choices. Check her out!

Artist Of The Month. (November 2011)
The Power Rangers of British pop, The Saturdays, are returning this year with a more mature sound and image, with the girlband taking a stab at the pop/dance wave with their fourth album On Your Radar's first single Notorious being a total flip in direction in their sound, and was noticeably more clubby compared to their previous singles and albums. They then took things a level further with the complete rave-tastic All Fired Up, which is without a doubt their best single release, not surprising since the track was produced by production powerhouse Xenomania, the machine behind pretty much all of Girls Aloud's discography. The pop five-piece are charging forward with the Christmassy ballad My Heart Takes Over before their album On Your Radar drops November 21st!
