Big News: Jennifer Hudson opens up on VH1: Behind The Music!
In the video above, Jennifer opens up to VH1: Behind The Music and talks about the loss of her family and winning her first Grammy from her idol Whitney Houston. Interviews from Jennifer herself, plus Jamie Foxx, Ne-Yo, Whitney Houston and more.
Pop/Country singer Jessie James' lead single Boys In The Summer for her still-untitled sophomore effort was just released to iTunes yesterday, including the music video. Meanwhile however, on a uStream chat she recently held she said that there's at least one more song that's not done yet and she said the album could drop this August. Meanwhile however, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has premiered a new ballad from her album called Nothing More To Say.
Miley Cyrus' Can't Be Tamed is supposed to be the album to declare that she's no longer that girl we saw on Hannah Montana years ago. Sadly, the album, Can't Be Tamed doesn't do that. Cyrus messes with autotune, drum beats, plus a cover of Bret Michaels' Every Rose Has Its Thorn with the man himself doing some background background vocals. However, even though the voice on the record is Cyrus', it feels like she's not paying much attention to what she's singing. She always sounds distant, never heartfelt. She only sounds like she's actually listening on the album's standout track, Stay. The ballad's all mushy about love, but what did you expect? Sex? Well, I'm glad Cyrus hasn't strayed too far from her Disney roots, since Can't Be Tamed is still without a doubt a Disney album. Can't Be Tamed is a little generic, and it doesn't live up to its album title. If you were expecting big heavy dance tracks or a bratty Miley, prepare to be disappointed. Or if you were expecting Can't Be Tamed to be a FANTASTIC album, I'm afraid you'll have to wait for her next album where she'll probably be talking more or less about the same thing about how she's outgrowing Disney... Nevertheless Can't Be Tamed doesn't deliver the kick it should.
Big News: Alexandra Burke's out and about for her new video!
UK pop/R&B superstar Alexandra Burke shows absolutely no signs of stopping. After last single All Night Long stormed the Irish Music Charts hitting #1 and #4 in the UK, Burke is ready to move on with her new UK/Ireland single Start Without You which leaked earlier and was rumoured to be a US single. Well, it since appears it isn't. Nevertheless, Burke has been protographed in L.A. and some behind the scenes pictures can be seen on her official site. I'm not sure if I'm liking the Start Without You still, I think she should have released the title track of her debut album Overcome, The Silence and Dumb as singles before she moved on to a new track. Oh well. Check out the behind the scenes pictures of the new video on her official website HERE
Katy Perry's California Gurls isn't going anywhere it seems, remaining at top spot, apparently shifting another 300, 000 plus copies and almost hitting double platinum status with total sales standing at 1,808,000 while getting the Airplay Gainer title. Ke$ha falls one spot again this week to #6 with Your Love Is My Drug, while Lady Gaga also drops, down two spots to #7. Jason DeRulo's creeping up the charts with Ridin' Solo sittin' proudly at #16. Alicia Keys sits nicely at #21 with Un-Thinkable (I'm Ready) and it's also a new peak for the song. Right before the release week of Miley Cyrus' hyped-up new album Can't Be Tamed, the title track, which also serves as the lead single, moves up back to #22. Also steadily climbing up the charts is Justin Bieber with his latest single Somebody To Love hitting #33 this week. Shakira's FIFA World Cup theme song Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) is surprisingly making itself out to be a hit, battling its way up to #38 after debuting at #43 last week. Colbie Caillat's I Never Told You is slowly inching its way up the charts again as it moves up to #60 this week. P!nk's Glitter In The Air is also making its way up, moving up to #76. Lady Antebellum's Our Kind Of Love finds its way back to #94.
As we all know by now, Canadian rapper Drake's new album is a huge commercial success, and it's one of the biggest opening numbers for an album this year so far, debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The soundtrack to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse slips to #6, trailed behind by Justin Bieber's My World 2.0 and Lady Antebellum's Need You Now at #6 and #7 repectively. Miranda Cosgrove and Adam Lambert's debut albums Sparks Fly and For Your Entertainment repectively are holding up at #109 and #110 respectively. Charice's self-titled international debut seems to slipping as well, falling yet again to #173. Sitting rather unsteadily right at the bottom, the Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack dips to #200 although it's been released for quite awhile now.
Big News: Katharine McPhee to record Christmas album!
It seems Mariah Carey isn't the only one recording an album in time for Christmas. It appears AC starlet Katharine McPhee is recording the Christmas album this summer to make it in time. Her label did comtemplate a while but apparently the project has been given the green light as McPhee tweeted out. Of course, the album will come with covers, and you can tweet your requests to @KatharineMcPhee and depending on the number of requests she gets, she'll cover the song.
• Christina Aguilera's putting out a new single already. Serving as Bionic's third single, You Lost Me, co-written by singer/songwriter Sia, it will be released sometime this year but it not known when the release date is. Personally, I think her marketing team is a complete mess. After Not Myself Tonight debuted at #23, they should have capitalized on that success and started promotion already. After barely promoting WooHoo, she's already putting out a new single? And a ballad one at that after Aguilera capitalizing on the electropop concept? Get a new marketing department, Christina. Also, on the UK Albums chart, after debuting at #1, she's made UK chart history by having the biggest drop for a #1 album. By the way, I Hate Boys is set to be her next Aussie single and You Lost Me gets a revamp for Top 40 radio and you can listen to the revamp HERE
• Katy Perry, however, is set to release her second single after the humongous #1 single California Gurls. She should wait till California Gurls has dried up before releasing a new single though. The second single off sophomore effort Teenage Dream will be the title track and again, the release date is unknown. California Gurls is set to take pole position on the UK singles chart, but she's got competition - K'naan's Wavin' Flag and the current chart-topper from Shout For England.
• Selena Gomez & The Scene are ready to release the lead single off their sophomore album that is still untitled. The music video for Round And Round premiered 2 days ago.
• Pop/country starlet Jessie James' summer smash sounds like a direct rival to Katy Perry's California Gurls and it will be digitally released on June 29th. The music video has already been released and critical reception for the single has so far been generally positive.
It seems the suits at American Idol are desperate enough to do anything to keep Idol afloat. Especially since American Idol's latest season, Season 9, was called lackluster, boring etc. In a bid to get more talent for Idol's next season, the minimum age requirement has been lowered to 15.
"A lot of young, talented people are now seeking careers and representation before they turn 16," says executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz, "Lowering the age limit allows us to tap into this talent pool."
Most likely, this decision has been made thanks to the Justin Biebers and Miley Cyruses of the world. What about raising the age limit, eh Idol? Now, they just need a good replacement for Simon. Let's see how would that work out.
It seems everyone wants to get on the Glee train. Filipino singing sensation Charice, who released her self-titled international album last month, is officially going to appear on the second season of FOX hit show Glee. Apparently, when rumours were flying about Charice' appearance on Glee, it wasn't true. But she decided to audition and had made it in.
Selena Gomez & The Scene new track: Round And Round
After scoring a hit internationally with Naturally, Selena Gomez & The Scene are back with new music. They are working on the music video this weekend which will premiere this weekend as well on Disney Channel. I hope she's not walking around on a green screen again, though. Nevertheless, the group is sticking to the winning formula which made Naturally such a success anyway, and Round And Round is yet another catchy pop/dance single. Enjoy!
Disney teen sensation Miley Cyrus is making the transition from teen star to adult star, done previously by fellow Disney act Hilary Duff with her album Dignity. Getting rid of the teen audience is always difficult because that's the audience they have always been geared toward, and who make up a big bulk of their fanbase. Cyrus herself has been testing the waters, performing a risque version of Party In The USA, faux-kissing a girl (twice), among others. Of course, Can't Be Tamed won't sell as much as her previous efforts (obviously), but if the lead single of the same name is of any indication, she might have some success with this album. Enjoy!

Katy Perry's California Gurls continues to dominate the Hot 100 while Ke$ha's Your Love Is My Drug slips 1 place to #5 this week. After the music video premiere, Lady Gaga's Alejandro moves back to its peak at #6. The Black Eyed Peas stay put at #9 with Rock That Body. Jason DeRulo's latest single Ridin' Solo hits its peak at #19, trailed behind by previous single In My Head. Alicia Keys' latest single also makes a move up to #22, along with Carrie Underwood's Undo It, rising to its current peak at #23 while Miley Cyrus' Can't Be Tamed falls 2 spots to #24. Justin Bieber's contribution to The Karate Kid soundtrack featuring star Jaden Smith comes in the form of Never Say Never, which debuts at #33. The 2010 FIFA World Cup's Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) performed by Latin artist Shakira debuts at #44. Usually on album release weeks, the lead single from the album will start picking up digital downloads, but Christina Aguilera's latest studio album Bionic has picked up a higher charting single on the Hot 100 compared to its second single WooHoo featuring female rapper Nicki Minaj, Bionic the title track makes a debut at #66. But it isn't all hopeless for Bionic's lead single Not Myself Tonight, it re-enters at #75, hopefully it starts to go up again now while second single WooHoo re-enters the Hot 100 at #99. Beautiful Monster, Ne-Yo's latest single, also the lead single from his upcoming album debuts at #67. I'm not sure why it's started to go up again, but P!nk's Glitter In The Air is rising the charts again, moving up to #86 this week.
Glee's latest soundtrack bows at #1, beating out The Twilight Saga: Eclipse's soundtrack which arrives at #2. Christina Aguilera's brand new album Bionic bows at #3. Colbie Caillat's Breakthrough returns to the Top 100 as the album moves up to #100. Charice's self-titled debut falls to #156.

Artist Of The Month. (November 2011)
The Power Rangers of British pop, The Saturdays, are returning this year with a more mature sound and image, with the girlband taking a stab at the pop/dance wave with their fourth album On Your Radar's first single Notorious being a total flip in direction in their sound, and was noticeably more clubby compared to their previous singles and albums. They then took things a level further with the complete rave-tastic All Fired Up, which is without a doubt their best single release, not surprising since the track was produced by production powerhouse Xenomania, the machine behind pretty much all of Girls Aloud's discography. The pop five-piece are charging forward with the Christmassy ballad My Heart Takes Over before their album On Your Radar drops November 21st!
